You may be at the stage of a wedding where every little detail worries you, like whether it’s ok for the mother of the bride gown and the mother of the groom gown to be the same colour?
Most really don’t mind as long as it’s not the exact same style of dress!
Wedding custom suggests that the mother of the bride outfit gets chosen first but many find this tradition a tad old fashioned and verging on unfair.
It really doesn’t matter who chooses their dress first, unless of course the bride is following wedding tradition to a tee.
One of the best things to do is for the mother of the bride and the mother of the groom to have a chat with each other instead of communicating solely through their children. Just play it by ear and be flexible with the bride’s choices.
The main issue is that both mothers wear gowns that are comfortable, flattering and most of all compliment the wedding colours. The happy couple want to look back at lovely group photos and be the centre of attention – not have the limelight taken away from them with clashing mother of the bride and groom dress colours.
The wedding couple simply want everyone to be happy and enjoy the day, if everyone is happy with the mothers wearing the same colour then there is really is nothing to worry about.
It’s all down to communication. To limit the stress it’s best to all get together and discuss colours and styles to ensure everyone knows where they stand.
